Perception Versus Truth

When any of us face various events in our lives, we form a momentary and subjective perception about what just happened. A personal perception or impression is not the Truth.

The problem is that personal perception often arises from a mind conditioned by past events. The meanings that we attach to today’s events, are often tainted by our past experiences. Our subconscious mind superimposes past memories on present-day experiences.

This is how we keep recreating our life-dramas over and over again, because we are viewing today through the lens of yesterday.

Let us say that you were asked to the high school prom by the wrong guy and that prom night in a nano-second you perceived yourself to be “unpopular.” Now, twenty four years later, a momentary perception that you formed twenty four years ago negatively influences how you present and handle yourself at parties. In other words, your social thermostat is still set for “unpopular.”

If you want to be free of self-limiting beliefs that you formed years ago, just go back and find the root of the original wrong perception; revise your perception at this age—you will immediately feel better and your behavior and life-results will change.

Never try to over-analyze past events; you cannot change events that already happened. It is a lot easier to change your impression (perception) of what really happened way back when.
